About Christian Goodrich

I remember when I was only 12 years old and unlike most youngsters who would probably be up for hours on end trying to complete the final level on a Playstation 2 strategy game, I was busy delving into the depths of web and graphic design. It started as just a hobby, I enjoyed creating something and then having it online, and knowing anyone anywhere in the World could access it. Year's passed and after Secondary and Sixth Form whereby my passion for web and graphic design had remained and grown, I begun to take the skills I had learn 't more seriously.

In education, I used to find any excuse to design a web site as an alternative to writing an essay or creating a random piece of art. When teachers constantly reminded us that we "should know what (we) want to do for a career by the end of the year", I never gave it much thought. All I knew was that I loved web design and that was that. In time I came to realise that my skills in web design could actually earn me an income and I thought "how cool, get paid to do what I enjoy!".

After completing Sixth Form and earning three A-Levels including a B in I.C.T., it was time for my gap year before University. In my gap year I developed my skills in design outside of web site design including photography and video editing as well as gaining work experience through employment at Website Vision Ltd. (See reference).

My first year at the University of Gloucester covered a range of design and interactive media; web design, CD artwork and 2D animation to name but a few. On average I achieved a 2:1 by the end of my academic year (the equivalent to a B grade). Alongside my University projects I also managed numerous personal projects which can be viewed throughout my portfolio pages.

I am currently in my 2nd year of University and I look forward to many of the modules that will involve 3D Animation, Games Design and management and development of live client briefs. By the end of the year I hope to have built an extensive portfolio of animation and web design work.

Christian joined us in the summer months to gain experience in the work place and to see first hand how a web design company operates. Christian was responsible for a number of projects from conception to completion. He picked things up very quickly and expanded his skill base substantially. These included basic eMarketing (market research, link popularity, search engine optimisation and submission), web site development (using XHTML and CSS to the W3C standards) and web site design (using Adobe Photoshop). I would look at employing Christian again as he was a valuable member of our team who consistently achieved good results. I have already offered Christian summer employment should he wish to.
